Everything affects hair

I believe many things, inside and outside of our body, affect our hair. This is why our hair feels like a constant experiment. The weather can change hair dramatically. For my curls, I love humidity. For anyone with straight hair humidity can be a nightmare. Hair is drier in the winter because of a lack of humidity and indoor heat. If you are a swimmer, you know what chlorine can do to your hair. It may have turned a beautiful shade of chlorine green!

Hair changes as we age! I know for some, this is obvious in the color change. But for others, it is a slow change in texture. Hormones play a huge part in this. I have seen this when someone has a baby or when they go through menopause. Each time the person has developed curls or at least waves that weren't there previously.

Every time we use a hot tool on our hair we are causing a change in the hair. If the hair isn't protected the change can result in damage. If the hair is colored or permed then the hair structure is permanently changed. If this is done often enough, the hair can become damaged.

Thyroid problems can effect the hair. Oddly enough, both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism can cause hair to fall out. If you are ever concerned with changes in your hair be sure to talk to your doctor. If you don't have a medical condition and are looking for ways to embrace or improve the changes, reach out to me.
