When God gives me the same information in multiple ways, I figure I better pay attention and share! Recently, I watched Tony Robbins give a presentation. If you are familiar with him, you know it wasn't your average presentation. He has contagious energy! He presented the "power posture". You stand tall with your chest out and hands on your hips like a superhero. He referenced it as a Harvard study and gave some interesting statistics.
A few days later, I was reading through an article from the April 2017 Idea Fitness Journal. I like to tear out articles for later reference. Anyways, it was titled "The Big Payoff to Better Posture". The article referred to a TED talk given by Harvard Business School social psychologist Amy Cuddy PhD. In it she presented the "power pose". Please check it out here. She explains it way better than I ever could. Here are a few benefits of two minutes of breathing fully:
Testosterone levels rise by 20%
Cortisol (stress hormone) lowers by 25%
It doesn't matter what it is called, the statistics make it worth a try. From now on when I face a difficult situation, I'm going to pose like a superhero and breathe fully for 2 minutes. If only I could find my cape!
